Americans are giving up one meat from Subway after seeing how it arrives

Americans are vowing to give up steak from Subway after a viral TikTok revealed how it arrives at the sandwich shop as a log wrapped in plastic.

Eating at Subway is not just grabbing food, it’s an experience. From the minute you step through the door, you are carefully crafting your meal from the bread options to the wide array of sauces, many of which were just released in grocery stores.

Why has social media taken issue with the Subway steak?

The concerning video was shared earlier this week by the TikTok account How Food is Made (@howfoodismade), which, as you might have gathered, makes videos about how food is created. Previous clips revealed inside information about McDonald’s and Taco Bell.

As you might already know, Subway offers its steak in The Monster, The Philly, The Outlaw, and many other limited edition sandwiches. Customers can also use the steak to build their own sandwiches and salads.

In How The Food Is Made’s clip, the steak mixture could be seen wrapped in plastic while in log form. This was then overturned into a container where it was “scrambled” by hand to meet the desired texture. The meaty mixture was then divided into smaller containers in 2.05oz portions.

Only the tip of the sandwich iceberg

Of course, as a fast food restaurant, most social media users understood that Subway was not preparing fresh steak each and every time someone ordered a sandwich. Unfortunately, a few admitted to feeling “put off” by the meat log.

“I will never recover from this,” one account wrote, as another said, “As someone who worked there for 2 years, sometimes it’s even more frozen than that.”

“I really wish I didn’t see this lol steak and cheese subs were my favorite @Subangi,” someone else person wrote.

Shockingly, current and former Subway employees also warned against other meat-based items on the menu, as one person said: “I worked at Subway and still have nightmares about prepping the teriyaki chicken.”

“As a former Subway employee, y’all don’t know about the tuna,” another said.
