Sunrise ShopRite, a northern New Jersey ShopRite franchise, is starting construction on a state-of-the-art ShopRite in West Caldwell, New Jersey.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the store will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 at 900 Bloomfield Avenue in West Caldwell.

“Construction on the site is expected to be completed in fall of 2025,” officials said.

The to-be-constructed store is expected to replace West Caldwell’s current ShopRite at 540 Passaic Avenue, which opened in 1967.

The new store is expected to be nearly 90,000 square feet, twice the size of West Caldwell’s current ShopRite.

The space will include an expanded produce department, meat and seafood department, a prepared foods department and a wine and spirits department.

Sunrise ShopRite operates the two ShopRite stores in Parsippany and West Caldwell.

They are part of a roster of almost 280 ShopRite supermarkets throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.
