As Angel Reese became a national name during her two seasons at LSU, she made sure to acknowledge her DMV roots. The Maryland native wanted to give back in her community in the Baltimore suburbs and repped her hometown while in Baton Rouge.

Now a member of the Chicago Sky in the WNBA, Reese is finding another way to make an impact on the Baltimore sports scene.

The D.C. Power Football Club, a professional women’s soccer team in the United Soccer League, announced Reese would be joining the franchise as a co-owner. The Power and USL are preparing for their inaugural season, and Reese is the first member of the team’s ownership group.

“Angel’s decision to be a founding investor alongside us in Power FC is groundbreaking,” said Jason Levien, D.C. United CEO and Co-Chairman, in a statement. “As a Maryland native, Angel is so passionate about being a catalyst for positive change in women’s sports in the DMV as well as globally while inspiring the next generation of female athletes. We’re looking forward to her partnership in the boardroom as an equity partner.”

A stake in a professional sports team is another major business venture for Reese, who made a name for herself in the NIL space at LSU. She left the Tigers with an On3 NIL Valuation of $1.8 million to rank No. 8 in her final appearance in the On3 NIL 100, which is the first of its kind and defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by their On3 NIL Valuation.

This opportunity also allows Reese to play a role in growing another sport, just as she helped boost the profile of women’s basketball in college.

“I want to help grow women’s sports and elevate female athletes across the board,” Reese said in a statement. “We’re taking over, and I’m honored to be able to support Power FC and invest in women’s soccer in the DMV community.”

During her two seasons at LSU after transferring from Maryland, Reese became one of the most recognizable names in women’s basketball. She left Baton Rouge with an On3 NIL Valuation of $1.8 million to rank No. 8 in her final appearance in the On3 NIL 100, which is the first of its kind and defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by their On3 NIL Valuation.

Reese had notable NIL deals with Reebok, Beats by Dre, Airbnb, Amazon and SI Swimsuit as part of her impressive portfolio. It led her to become a top name in a highly anticipated WNBA Draft, and she’s hoping to continue that success at the next level.

After her time at LSU came to an end, Reese quickly landed another endorsement deal. She inked an exclusive partnership with Panini America and was one of a handful of top draft picks to receive an official trading card commemorating the night the Sky selected her.
