The funeral tour of President Ebrahim Raisi and his government colleagues commenced at Tehran's Mosalla Grand Mosque Complex late on May 21.

Raisi died in a helicopter crash on May 19, along with his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six others on board, on his way back from a visit to East Azerbaijan Province. Following his death, his body, along with those who had died, began a long tour from the western city of Tabriz, close to where the helicopter crashed, to the Holy City of Qom via Tehran and back to Tehran.

According to ISNA, the funeral ceremony for the ‘martyrs’ began with the arrival of the bodies of President Ebrahim Raisi and former Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at Tehran's sprawling Mosalla complex late into the evening, with hundreds in attendance.

Over the past several hours, various groups of the public gathered at Tehran's Mosalla, awaiting the arrival of the president and colleagues.

The head of the Tehran Friday Prayer Committee announced that official prayers will be scheduled to be held at 9am on May 22 led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The ceremony included Quran recitation, eulogies, mourning, and speeches. The families of the service members, as well as national and military officials, are in attendance.

On May 22, a funeral procession will take place in Tehran from the University of Tehran towards Azadi Square. On the morning of Thursday, May 23, the ceremony will be held in Birjand and the afternoon in Mashhad.

Raisi’s burial at least will then take place at the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza, while other members of the party are set to be buried in their home cities.
