Three Manchester United players nominated for Premier League fan team of the season, including 2023 signing

Aside from the FA Cup run, Manchester United have endured a miserable season. The Premier League campaign never got started.

Manchester United finished in eighth place in the Premier League, despite ending with back to back wins against Newcsatle and Brighton.

Injuries have held United back all year, and it has been a struggle to field a properly functioning team at times, with struggles at both ends of the pitch.

Despite this, three players have been nominated for the Premier League team of the season, an award voted by supporters across the country.

Three Manchester United nominees

The official Premier League website names three Manchester United players who have been nominated for the awards.

Andre Onana struggled at first in the Champions League, and wasn’t altogether convincing in his early league performances, but has really kicked on in 2024.

Onana is the one player signed by Erik ten Hag last summer to be nominated. He has made a string of really impressive saves at a time when he has been bombarded by shots due to a wide open midfield and frequently changing defence.

Bruno Fernandes has been the epitome of consistency for Manchester United, scoring 15 goals and providing 12 assists. No player has more combined.

Fernandes also led the Premier League for chances created, doing so for the second season in a row, the first player to manage this since 2015.

United really missed him when he had to sit out two games due to injury, and his recent return coincided with the two late Premier League victories.

Diogo Dalot is Manchester United’s Mr Consistent, and was recently named by Alejandro Garnacho as the team’s player of the season.

Dalot has played at right-back and at left-back, being the one and only defender who has stayed injury free who the team can rely on.

He has also improved his productivity going forward, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
