Doubling Down With The Derricos sees Karen Derrico stressed beyond belief during the all-new season 5. With 14 kids to house, it’s no wonder things are getting on top of the TLC star. She explains how her house is “too cramped” as chaos erupts. The mom has four sets of multiples to care for and everything starts breaking down in the home.
TLC viewers have been following the Derrico family for the past four years. When season 1 arrived, Deon, Karen, and their brood came up against all kinds of hurdles, including having to quarantine during the pandemic. Now, they’re facing more issues as Karen hits breaking point over their home.
Doubling Down With The Derricos: Karen’s had enough
Karen and Deon are parents to 14 kids who range in age from four to 18 years old.
Although the TLC stars’ are living their best life as a big, happy family, it seems things get too much for Karen in season 5.
The mom tells cameras: “I am so over this house.”
She airs her frustrations, adding: “Nothing in here seems to work, the walls are closing in.”
Karen continues: “We’re all crammed inside, I have no alone time, the dishwasher doesn’t work, the drier is broken.”
When Deon arrives home, he asks what all the hanging laundry is about, and tells Karen: “It’s not the end of the world…”
She adds: “I’m tired of waiting,” before heading out of the house for a walk.
Deon reveals new home
Just as fans were beginning to get concerned over the Derricos’ “cramped” abode, Deon pulled a surprise out the bag with a brand new home.
Taking to a Reddit thread in May, a fan asked: “Where’s the money from Deon being a landlord? Where’s the money that tlc pays per season?? It’s been how many seasons now, why is this family still holed up in this same house with 14 kids and an unhappy mom? I don’t get it.”
But, the father of 14 reveals the family has a new home. He appears to have his work cut out in season 5, however, as there are all kinds of renovations to be completed on the property.
Karen can be seen looking super excited as she shouts: “We got a new house,” in the show’s trailer.
The kids are also excited, adding: “It’s so big, it’s huge… this house is big.”
Karen said the house purchase was “five years in the making,” adding how she’d “given up all hope.”
Many fans were confused by Deon’s secret move of purchasing a home with some writing: “He got a whole house and didn’t tell his wife.”
Another tweeted via X (Twitter) that they wouldn’t be as happy as Karen about the new home: “if their husband bought a house without ever talking to me or showing it to me.”
