Jack Fletcher and Harry Amass feature for England U17s

As England walked all over France on Tuesday night on matchday one of the 2024 U17 European Championships, there were two United players who played.

Jack Fletcher started the game in midfield which shows just how highly rated he is as a talent in midfield with United lucky to have him after poaching the teenager from Man City last summer.

It wasn’t only Fletcher though as Harry Amass was a 73rd-minute substitute for England and he’ll be keen to see his playing time expand and start ahead of New York City FC’s Christian McFarlane.

While it’s great to see Fletcher and Amass in action for the U17s, it’s a shame that both Shea Lacey and Jayce Fitzgerald missed out on the tournament due to injury.

After thrashing France it wouldn’t be a surprise if England went all the way in the tournament.

Which Manchester United youngsters will be in international action?

With Amass and Fletcher in the U17 squad, Carrington also has two players in the U18 squad for a set of friendlies against Northern Ireland and Morocco.

Elyh Harrison and Ethan Wheatley have both been handed U18 call-ups for England after both enjoyed excellent campaigns for United.

The pair have been handed their call-ups a week after they picked up end-of-season awards at Old Trafford. Harrison won the Denzil Haroun U21 Player of the Year award and Wheatley won the Jimmy Murphy award.

It’s been a wild few months for Wheatley in particular as he also made his full Manchester United debut and has since made subsequent cameos.
