'This is' – Man Utd legend Patrice Evra breaks silence and sends clear-cut message after alleged Man City comments emerge

Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has spoken out against comments that have been linked to him over Manchester City’s latest Premier League title triumph.

Manchester City beat Arsenal to the Premier League trophy by two points after a 3-1 win over West Ham in their final league match at the Etihad this season.

Pep Guardiola’s men became the first team in history to secure a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Manchester United, on the other hand, finished a whopping 31 points behind Manchester City and had to settle for eighth place in the league.

The Red Devils lost 14 league matches in the campaign under manager Erik ten Hag, who has endured a turbulent second season at Old Trafford.

However, United and City will meet one final time this season for the FA Cup final at Wembley on 25th May.

Erik ten Hag’s men faced Pep Guardiola’s side in the FA Cup final in 2023 and United suffered a 2-1 defeat to City at Wembley.

Evra reacts to viral Man City comments

Patrice Evra took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and dismissed a tweet claiming that he criticised Manchester City’s title win.

The X account ‘Football Factly’ tweeted out saying that the Manchester United legend ‘fired shots’ at City, despite Evra never saying such a thing.

Football Factly’s tweet reads: “Patrice Evra on Manchester City’s 4th Premier League title: The reaction is evident. No emotion, no feelings, no nothing.

“Things would be different if a bigger club won it. The football world doesn’t rate rigged success and you can see it.”

The tweet from Football Factly went viral and has been viewed 2m times at the time of writing, with the post amassing 4.2k reposts on X.

Former United left-back Evra, who lifted five Premier League titles with United, called out the post and claimed that it was “fake news.”

“This is absolute b******t, fake news. Don’t believe what you read unless you see me writing it,” he tweeted.

Ten Hag on Man Utd in Premier League table

Erik ten Hag, whose long-term future at Old Trafford remains shrouded in mystery, will be hopeful of avenging United’s FA Cup defeat last season on Saturday.

The under-fire United boss admitted that the Red Devils endured a “very tough season,” but even Ten Hag refused to defend the club’s position in the league table.

“It’s difficult but we’ve talked before over this and it was a very tough season for us,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“We know it’s not good enough, by far. Simple. There are reasons but, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. It’s United. You have to finish higher and this is not good enough.

“We know the competition is tough. We have 60 points, two years ago, it was 58 and were sixth and, now, 60 and eighth. But it is not good enough. We’re disappointed.”
