On a glorious sunny afternoon at Highfield Lawn, the hosts won the toss and put the opposition in to bat.

Fakenham 2nd in action

Garboldisham batted steadily until Ryan Thompson was run out for five with the score on 28. It moved on to 80-1 when Fakenham introduced Hayden Lough who at 15 years old was making his second team debut.

Hayden made an immediate effect by ending the partnership of 52 runs between Andrew Whistler and James Worby by dismissing Worby leg before for 38.

It soon became 84-3 when a start stumping by Max Parsley off the bowling of Hayden Lough saw Jack Stevenson for one.

Harry Youngor was bowled by Lough for nought and the score was now 84-4. James Davey soon departed, caught by Harrison Futter off the bowling of Lough for one, making it 88-5.

Whistler was still at the crease and looking likely to make a high score but watched as Will Goulding was caught by Aaron Howell off the bowling of Lough for nine, leaving the score at 104-6.

With the score on 107 Daniel Worby gave a hard return catch to the bowler but Jack Rowley dropped the chance which was diverted on to the stumps and saw the fine innings of Whistler come to the end for 44, another fine stumping by Max Parsley off the bowling of Hayden.

Lough saw the dismissal of Daniel Worby for one with the score now 109-8. Daniel Philpot was soon dismissed, caught by Harrison Futter off the bowling of Sam Dixon for three. The final wicket saw Jonny Wynn caught by Keegan Monahan-Fairlea off the bowling of Emily Dack for one, meaning Garboldisham were 133 all out in 38.1 overs.

Stand-out bowler for the home side was Hayden Lough with excellent figures of 6-22 off nine overs.

In reply Fakenham soon lost two wickets with Harrison Futter dismissed for two and Monahan-Fairlea caught by Karl Gooderham off the bowling of James Worby for 0, leaving the score at 2-2.

Max Parsley was joined in the middle by Aaron Riseborough who attacked the bowling. A partnership of 62 was ended when Riseborough skied a catch to James Worby off the bowling of Gooderham for 47. Aaron’s fine innings included seven fours and two sixes.

Daniel Philpot soon accounted for Sam Speak by trapping him leg before for three. The score soon became 75-5 when Jack Rowley was bowled by Daniel Philpot for two. Max Parsley was joined at the crease by Aaron Howell and between them they saw Fakenham home with a stand of 39.
