Derby fans are all saying the same thing about Nottingham Forest academy graduate Tyrese Fornah

Tyrese Fornah caused a stir last summer when he left Nottingham Forest and penned a permanent contract with Derby County.

It’s been a pretty successful maiden campaign at Pride Park for the Forest Academy graduate.

The Rams won promotion back to the Championship and for a little while their fans were excited at the prospect of the East Midlands derby returning.

Forest have scuppered those plans by staying in the Premier League and that fixture will be off the list again for next season.

For former Forest midfielder Fornah, he could now get a crack at football in the second tier. However, their supporters are all saying the same thing about him.

Derby County fans say the same thing about Tyrese Fornah

During the 2023/24 campaign, Fornah made 26 appearances in all competitions and he wasn’t exactly a first-team regular.

The midfielder onlystarted nine games in League One and perhaps that’s a concern going into the Championship.

Ahead of next season, Derby fans are all saying the same thing about Fornah and perhaps it will make interesting reading for Forest supporters too.

One fan claimed: “Be a bit lightweight for Championship IMO.”

Another added: “Underachieved massively.”

A third went to town on Fornah, saying: “Poor. No understanding of his actual role within the squad, certainly nowhere near Champ level.”

Another added a one-word reaction, that read: “Disappointing.”

Finally, someone else added: “Awful. Should have been released.”

Forest were right to offload Fornah

At 24-years-old, Fornah needed to head out and play some regular football.

Perhaps if Forest hadn’t got promotion to the Premier League when they did, the midfielder might have been given a bit of a chance.

Fornah left having made just four appearances for the senior ranks after emerging through the academy at the City Ground.

These comments from Derby fans perhaps highlight a bit of an issue for Fornah.

He appears to be a little bit lightweight and perhaps adding some physicality to his game is the way forward.

It’s hard to imagine Fornah playing much for Derby in the Championship and perhaps they will look to offload him with just a year left on his deal.

Forest were right to offload Fornah when they did but hopefully, in the future, he can settle and really catch fire in a team.
