Lionel Messi in discomfort in Inter Miami training session as new footage emerges

Lionel Messi was seen in discomfort last night in Inter Miami’s open training session at Chase Stadium.

The Herons welcomed some 3,000 season-ticket holders to an open training session last night ahead of Inter Miami’s MLS clash against the Vancouver Whitecaps, where the Herons will want to extend their unbeaten run to ten games.

With Messi missing last week’s midweek trip to Orlando City SC, the Argentine international is seemingly carrying a knock of sorts despite playing the entire match on Saturday against DC United, where the forward was again unable to make a goal contribution.

Messi injury worry grows after video from Inter Miami’s stadium

As per journalist Franco Panizo, Messi looked in some discomfort last night during Inter Miami’s training session, with the forward seen tending to his left leg during the end of a practice drill.

With just a few weeks before the start of the Copa America, Messi might take it upon himself to be rested for this weekend’s trip to British Columbia, with the travel of this away day alone something that could cause further damage.

Indeed, this summer’s competition with Argentina could be Messi’s last for his national team, and winning the Copa America on US soil would be a huge statement from the Inter Miami star.

And with the forward looking in pain last night in training, there could now be a real chance that Messi is rested for this Saturday’s trip up north to Canada, where the Argentine being fully rested might be the best course of action.

Messi being rested could be a smart decision from the Herons

With Messi looking in physical pain in Tuesday’s open training session, Inter Miami resting their star player for the grueling away day to Canada could be a smart decision for the Florida franchise.

Although the attacker might pass as fit to play for the Herons, Inter Miami know they can get the business done in Vancouver without Messi, especially with Luis Suarez and Matias Rojas healthy.

Given the circumstances and that Inter Miami have another midweek fixture coming up, resting Messi before the Copa America would be ideal for all parties, with the quality there to get the job done.
