Pull your kids out of public schools or they'll 'turn trans': Colorado GOP

The Colorado Republican Party is warning parents that there's a good chance their children will become transgender if they are educated in the public school system.

Local news station 9 News reports that the Colorado GOP sent out an email blast to supporters this week that informing them that "all Colorado parents should be aiming to remove their kids from public education" on grounds that leaving them there will "turn more kids trans."

There is no evidence that children can be forced to become transgender, let alone that being educated in public schools can push them to identify as such.

The email in question was written by Darcy Schoening, director of special initiatives for the Colorado GOP who is also a former leader of a local Moms for Liberty chapter in El Paso.

Schoening's message was apparently inspired by a new bill requiring schools to use students' preferred gender pronouns, from which she falsely extrapolated claims about schools "forcing" children to become transgender.

“If your child decides he identifies as a girl because he is angry with you, or all of his friends are doing it, the Colorado government will actively encourage his new fetish by allowing him to identify as 'she,' 'they,' or whatever nonsensical terms your son's teachers and peers may dream up," the email claimed.

In fact, most people who identify as transgender do not do so as a revenge ploy against their right-wing parents.
