Report: Crystal Palace have now offered target a contract, he previously scored 25 goals under Oliver Glasner

Crystal Palace have now made contact with a player Oliver Glasner knows well – and a contract has even been offered.

Recruitment plans already seem to be moving quickly as Dougie Freedman gets to work, following Tuesday’s news that a deal to sign Chadi Riad is close to being finalised.

The Morocco international has agreed to join the Eagles in a deal worth £13m.

Now, Crystal Palace could tempt another player into moving to Selhurst Park, after placing an attractive contract on the table…

Crystal Palace offer Daichi Kamada a contract

A story from Il Messaggero in Italy now claims that Crystal Palace have offered Daichi Kamada a contract.

The Japan international finds himself at a crossroads in his career right now.

Kamada has until May 30th to decide whether to extend his own contract at Lazio, or walk away from the Italian giants as a free agent.

The 27-year-old is currently demanding an annual salary of €3.5m (£3m) to stay with the Serie A outfit, although Crystal Palace have now added fuel to the fire by offering the Lazio No.6 that exact sum.

It equates to around £58,000-a-week, a figure Crystal Palace have more than freed up on the salary bill after waving goodbye to James Tomkins and Jairo Riedewald, who earned £50,000-a-week and £55,000-a-week respectively in SE25.

Kamada scored two goals – and provided two assists – in 28 Serie A appearances throughout the 2023/24 campaign, while also making seven UEFA Champions League appearances as Lazio reached the Round of 16.

Oliver Glasner knows how to utilise Japan international

As aforesaid, Glasner knows Kamada well, and got the best out of the man from Iyo during their time together at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Austrian used the versatile Japanese midfielder in an attacking midfield role, where he impressively scored 25 goals in 93 appearances under the man from Salzburg.

Kamada also provided 12 assists in that timeframe, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 2.5 games under Glasner – a fine record.

Therefore, if Freedman can sign Kamada on a free transfer, it could well prove to be one of the signings of the summer transfer window.

Ironically, we actually suggested this signing back in February after Glasner replaced Roy Hodgson…
