Manuel Akanji has said that one player at Manchester City has one of the strongest shots he’s ever seen.
The centre-back has now completed his second Premier League campaign with the Manchester club.
During his time at the Etihad Stadium, Akanji has featured alongside 30 players in total across all competitions.
Now though, the 28-year-old has shared his thoughts on one particular teammate he has at City and one specific attribute he has that may not get the recognition he thinks it deserves.
Akanji says Phil Foden has unreal shooting ability
In a recent video shared on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Akanji was tasked with picking some of his City teammates based on who he thinks have been given certain traits in their EA FC 24 player cards.
After discovering that Phil Foden was not given a power shot trait, Akanji had this to say on the matter.
He said: “How is Phil not in there? They need to explain this to me. Have they seen his goals against [Manchester] United?
“Even though he’s not big he has one of the strongest shots I’ve seen and also precise.”
Foden and Haaland have dangerous shots
While Erling Haaland has a reputation for having a powerful shot, the fact that Akanji has highlighted how much power Foden can get in his shots could be a surprise for some.
Looking back over the recent Premier League campaign, Foden racked up the second-highest total of shots on target (48) in the division, leaving only Haaland with more (50).
Interestingly, neither of the two City players registered the most powerful shot of the campaign or even in the top five.
However, with Akanji seeing Foden and Haaland regularly in training and in games, he’ll know just how much power the Englishman can get into his shots.
