Gers target jets into Ibrox as Romano confirms first Clement summer signing

Despite the transfer window not being open yet, Rangers have already been linked with a host of new players to aid Philippe Clement’s cause.

This week alone has seen three players tipped to make imminent moves to Ibrox and one could be sealed in the coming days.

According to Fabrizio Romano, one target is one his way to Rangers to complete his medical and put pen to paper.

Rangers move for Jefte confirmed by Fabrizio Romano

It looked like a signing that would be made in January, however, Brazilian left-back Jefte is close to being unveiled at Ibrox.

Writing on X, the transfer supremo claimed:

“Rangers are set to complete deal to sign Brazilian LB Jefté, confirmed and here we go!

“Understand Jefté is on his way to complete the medical tests and sign the contract as new Rangers player.

“As revealed in January, Scottish side prepared it all for the summer window.”

Jefte ticks a lot of boxes for Rangers transfer model

Jefte is a signing that ticks a lot of boxes towards the player trading model and will be perfect for Philippe Clement.

He’s young, has potential and has a good physical presence too in terms of his build and athleticism.

The 20-year old also plays in a position where Rangers will soon be short.

Speaking recently, the Gers boss confirmed that there will be a lot of turbulence in the coming weeks:

“There will be changes, we need changes.

“Will it be significant? Of course, because we have a lot of contracts ending also.

“We don’t have unlimited finances, so we need to make the right decisions in the positions and where to spend more and where to spend less.”

Jefte is a signing that meets this remit.

He’s not quite a punt, but he’s got a good pedigree and has shown that he can cope with the rigours of senior football.

What is also encouraging, is that Nils Koppen has clearly done his homework, missed out, but still seen enough to make sure it is a transfer Rangers get done.
