Report: It will take £180m bid for Newcastle to even think about selling 'frightening' player

Newcastle United are very serious when it comes to keeping their best players this summer.

The only way Bruno Guimaraes is going to leave is if someone activates his £100million release clause, despite some people at Arsenal thinking they might be able to sign him for less than that later in the summer.

Anthony Gordon is also going absolutely nowhere, despite being tentatively linked with a move back to Merseyside to sign for Arne Slot’s Liverpool.

Newcastle United do not want to sell either of them, and their stance is the same when it comes to Alexander Isak.

How much Newcastle want for Alexander Isak

The 24-year-old is a target for Arsenal, although the Gunners know that the Magpies are not interested in doing business.

Now the Telegraph have provided a fresh update on how Toon officials have reacted to talk of them selling Isak this summer.

The Telegraph report that Newcastle have laughed off suggestions that they could sell Isak if an offer of £90million comes in. Instead, they report that an offer of double that amount would be required for the club to even discuss letting the Sweden international go.

That would mean an offer of £180million, which would make Isak the second most expensive player in the history of the game behind Neymar. He is already Newcastle’s record signing at £63million, and now the Magpies think he is worth treble that amount.

Newcastle struck gold when they invested in Isak

And there is evidence to suggest that is the case after the season he has had.

Isak scored 25 goals in all competitions, 21 of which came in the Premier League. Some of the goals he scored were truly special, while he even managed to find the net in Wednesday’s meaningless friendly with Tottenham over in Australia.

The forward has been labelled ‘world class’ by Dan Burn, while Kieran Trippier thinks he is ‘frightening‘ in front of goal. Both of those things are true, and it is why Newcastle struck gold when they bought Isak from Real Sociedad.

After two years, he has proven to be an outstanding investment. And hopefully he will remain at St James’ Park for plenty more years, with the club hoping he signs a new contract very soon.
