Kevin Harvick pointed to a particular dig that Kyle Busch made towards Ricky Stenhouse Jr. during their altercation on Sunday evening, believing it proved Busch was in the wrong.

Of course, the fight between Busch and Stenhouse Jr. has been highly-publicized over the last couple of days, and Harvick chimed in during his Harvick’s Happy Hour podcast. Evidently, a not-so-subtle jab Busch made towards Stenhouse Jr. revealed to Harvick the reasoning behind Busch wrecking the No. 47.

“That’s why I say the things that I do about Kyle. When he said, ‘I suck as bad as you do,’ you can obviously tell that that frustration is there about the performance of his car,” Harvick theorized. “He’s done a really good job of managing everything up until this point, but it didn’t work out.”

Alas, that backs up Harvick’s theory regarding the incident, as the former NASCAR Cup Series champion believes Busch’s frustrations were more internal than anything, and the No. 8 wheelman simply took it out on Stenhouse Jr. for no good reason.

“I think Kyle’s also frustrated with his situation, and everything he has going on currently,” Harvick added. “I think that we finally have seen the trigger that pushed Kyle over the edge, with the performance of what they’ve been doing on the race track, and the things that have been happening. So you can tell that he’s frustrated and not happy, and I don’t know any other way to put that.

“When you look at Stenhouse and his situation, with the things that he said and where he was with Kyle Busch, he just felt like it was time to be done with it, and I think they both took the opportunity of the All-Star Race to settle those things up.”

It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any retaliation on Stenhouse Jr.’s part moving forward. The No. 47 team was hit with a myriad of penalties on Wednesday morning for their role, with Stenhouse Jr.’s father and many crew members being suspended, while the No. 47 wheelman was docked a hefty fine.

As for Busch, he wasn’t penalized by NASCAR for his role in the altercation, and neither were any of his crew members. Evidently, the governing body determined the No. 8 wheelman was defending himself, but getting off with no punishment for wrecking Stenhouse Jr. won’t bode well for the No. 47’s morale.

Regardless, Kevin Harvick will be keeping a watchful eye on the No. 47 and the No. 8 during this Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, as the potential for sparks to fly again is on the table, for sure.
