‘I would put him’: Jamie Carragher shares where he ranks Pep Guardiola in all-time Premier League managers

Jamie Carragher has shared his verdict on where Pep Guardiola stands among the best Premier League managers of all time.

The 53-year-old followed up last season’s Treble by seeing his Manchester City side become the first side to win four Premier League titles in a row.

Having now completed eight top-flight campaigns in England with the Citizens, conversations have begun regarding where Guardiola and his accomplishments at City put him among some of the other successful managers in Premier League history.

Speaking in a recent edition of Stick to Football, Carragher had this to say about Guardiola and where he ranks among the best managers the Premier League has ever seen.

He said: “I would put him above Wenger, the only reason being is the Champions League. They didn’t quite crack that Arsenal. He got to three finals and won it once, I just think coming up against City, points totals as well.

“I put Pep top of the Premier League. I think Sir Alex Ferguson, what he did at Aberdeen, maybe puts him above Pep.

“That’s a debate in itself but in terms of the Premier League, Guardiola has won six in seven and he’s only been here eight years. I would go Pep, Ferguson, Jose and then I’d put Klopp next.”

Guardiola has dominated the Premier League with City

During his time in charge of City, Guardiola has overlooked 471 games in all competitions, winning 349, drawing 57 and losing 65.

Having now won six Premier League titles, City have also won four League Cups, one Champions League, one UEFA SuperCup, one FIFA Club World Cup and two FA Cups, which could become three if they beat Manchester United on Saturday, during Guardiola’s reign.

Even though Ferguson won 13 Premier League trophies during his time at United, the fact that Carragher has ranked Guardiola above the Scotsman shows just how much the pundit appreciates what the City manager has done in his eight years at the club.
