'These guys are incredible': New Inter Miami arrival shares his thoughts on playing alongside Messi & Suarez

New Inter Miami player Marcelo Weigandt has shared his thoughts on what it’s like to play alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The Argentine right-back joined the Herons on loan in March from Boca Juniors, with Weigandt signed to replace DeAndre Yedlin as the USA international was surprisingly traded to FC Cincinnati.

Despite a slow start, Weigandt has now found his rhythm with Inter Miami, with the 24-year-old defender making nine MLS appearances and establishing himself as Tata Martino’s main starter in the right-back role.

And the defender has now shared what it’s like to play alongside the likes of Messi and Suarez.

Marcelo Weigandt in awe of Messi and Suarez at Inter Miami

Speaking to the press, Weigandt shared is awe in getting to share the pitch with Messi and Suarez, with the defender revealing that the duo go and above and beyond to win for the Herons.

Weigandt said about his new teammates: “When we come out, we have another energy. To play alongside Messi is incredible, he’s the one out there that’s giving us that energy. I give 100% but he’s giving 110%, it’s amazing.

“We have to be attentive, though, because each game is like a final for us because the rival wants to beat us more than anything, they have that extra edge to their game. But we are proud, and we are happy to have Leo as much as Suarez, Busquets and Jordi.

“These guys are incredible, and day after day they show their humility and their respect towards everyone, and we try to copy these good steps on and off the pitch.”

Messi and Suarez’s influence will make Weigandt a better player

It has become a growing theme at Inter Miami in recent weeks that members of the playing squad are becoming better thanks to Messi and Suarez’s huge influence both on and off the pitch.

And the same could be said for Weigandt, who playing in the right-back position has forged a connection with Messi down the attacking flank that will become useful as the season progresses.

Indeed, the 24-year-old defender has impressed in his first few games as an Inter Miami player, and Weigandt will become better the more he plays with the likes of Messi and Suarez for the Herons.
