Alan Shearer explains what makes 'superb' Arsenal star one of the best in Premier League

Alan Shearer has shared what makes one Arsenal star one of the best players in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta has fully transformed the Gunners into one of the most exciting teams in all of Europe, with Arsenal claiming back-to-back second-place finishes in the Premier League having this year taken Manchester City to the final day of the season.

With the likes of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Declan Rice all starring for Arsenal this season, not only are the north London side one of the best in Europe, but also one of the youngest, with Thomas Partey and Jorginho the only players aged 30 or over.

And Shearer has been very impressed with one of Arsenal’s young guns.

Shearer fawns over Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard

Speaking on the Rest is Football, Sherarer was full of praise for Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard, who again this season showed why he is one of the best midfielders in the world.

Whilst not as productive as last year in terms of goals and assists, the Norwegian international still managed 22 goal contributions in 41 games, with Odegaard being the creative heartbeat of the Arsenal team for the entire season.

And Shearer detailed what made Odegaard such an entertaining player to watch, with the 25-year-old playmaker a figure who is on course to become a modern-day legend at Arsenal.

Shearer said about Odegaard: “He’s just so easy on the eye, he makes everything look comfortable and easy, when of course it’s not, and I just think his balance and his technique has been a huge part in what Arsenal have done, he’s been superb.”

Odegaard will want to lead Arsenal to glory next season

Odegaard is easily one of the best midfielders in the world and one of the best captains Arsenal have had in a long time, with the 25-year-old giving the armband the respect and care it has lacked in recent years.

And next season, Odegaard will want to finally get his hands on some real silverware for Arsenal, who will again be in contention for both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Having come so close this year, Odegaard will be more determined than ever to make things right next season, with additional signings potentially what’s needed for Arsenal to get over the line.
