Georginio Rutter now shares who the most skilful player is at Leeds United, he doesn’t pick himself

Georginio Rutter is one of, if not the most skilful player at Leeds United.

During the 46-game regular Championship season, only former Leeds winger Jack Clarke averaged more successful dribbles than Rutter per 90 minutes.

Though sometimes his bravery on the ball can play him into trouble, when his skills do work he is a joy to watch and a key part of a Leeds attack which is arguably the most talented in the division.

Rutter has been struggling with his confidence lately after surgery at the end of March and so Patrick Bamford made it his mission before Thursday’s 4-0 victory over Norwich City to keep his spirits high.

Having got on the scoresheet, Rutter was very much somewhere close to his best again at Elland Road against the Canaries, as he completed an impressive six successful dribbles.

Rutter builds perfect Leeds player from teammates as Crysencio Summerville most skilful

In an interview with the EFL after last week’s mauling of Norwich, Rutter was asked to build the perfect player from his current set of Leeds teammates.

He started off by naming Joe Rodon as the player with the best mentality at the club, before then claiming Ilia Gruev has the best vision.

Glen Kamara was named as the strongest physically, and perhaps unsurprisingly without hesitation, Rutter chose Dan James as the quickest in Leeds’ squad.

The left and right-foot accolades went to Joel Piroe and Crysencio Summerville respectively, but there was a little more hesitation and awkward laughter on who the most skilful is.

No one could have begrudged Rutter for picking himself for this particular attribute but in the end, he again went with Summerville.

As aforementioned, Rutter was statistically the second best dribbler in the Championship with 2.8 successful take-ons per game, though Summerville was not far behind in joint fourth, with 2.3. It is certainly close between the pair.

Sam Morsy picks Summerville as Championship’s best player

It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to hear that Rutter has picked Summerville for two separate attributes from the Leeds squad.

He was crowned the division’s POTS last month thanks to 19 goals and nine assists during the regular season, and was also named as Sam Morsy’s toughest opponent this season.

With that in mind, Leeds will need to ensure they win this Sunday’s play-off final against Southampton to stand any chance of keeping him this summer.

The likes of Chelsea and Liverpool are already lurking and if Leeds do stay down, it has already been reported he is the most likely to go.
