Mississippi State 4-star QB commit KaMario Taylor invited to Elite 11 Finals

Mississippi State’s previous coaching staff took a commitment from Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County four-star quarterback KaMario Taylor back in November. And that looks to be paying off in a big way for the Bulldogs’ new staff under Jeff Lebby, who convinced Taylor to stick with them despite the coaching change.

He has been rising up recruiting rankings in recent months, and proved his mettle on Wednesday as one of the nation’s top QB prospects by earning an invite to the Elite 11 Finals this summer in Los Angeles. His offer comes after he was a top performer at the Elite 11 regional camp in Atlanta earlier this spring.

FULL ELITE 11 FINALS ROSTER

There are few higher honors for high school quarterbacks than being invited to the Elite 11 Finals. The event, which will celebrate its 25th year in 2024, brings together the country’s elite signal-callers for three days of competition and training in Los Angeles.

Elite 11 alumni include Carson Palmer, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Tim Tebow, and more recently Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young and more. Last year’s Elite 11 Finals featured more than a dozen of the top 20 quarterbacks in the final On3 Industry Rankings, including each of the top five players at the position.

Taylor joins 16 previous invitees: USC commit Julian Lewis, Ohio State pledge Tavien St. Clair, Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight, Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet, Texas commit K.J. Lacey, SMU commit Keelon Russell, Oklahoma commit Kevin Sperry, Florida State pledge Tramell Jones, North Carolina commit Bryce Baker, Missouri commit Matt Zollers, Georgia pledge Ryan Montgomery, TCU commit Ty Hawkins, Tennessee pledge George MacIntyre, Nebraska commit TJ Lateef, uncommitted four-star Malik Washington and Iowa State commit Alex Manske.

Taylor has been a major riser in On3’s recruiting rankings

In the latest On300 recruiting rankings, Taylor checked in as the nation’s No. 94 overall prospect and No. 10 quarterback recruit. On3 is significantly higher on him than other recruiting services, with only one other major recruiting platform ranking him among the top 300 prospects nationally.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about Taylor:

“There may not be a quarterback in the On300 with a wider range of variance than KaMario Taylor. At 6-foot-3, 195 pounds with 10.25-inch hands, Taylor is far from the most polished quarterback in the On300, but he has one of the highest ceilings with continued development. Taylor was a big-time playmaker for Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County as a junior accounting for 60 total touchdowns (45 passing, 15 rushing) – the most of any quarterback in the On300. He’ll need to hone his consistency, but the flashes and overall playmaking ability on Friday nights point to considerable upside.”
