UCLA to host Iowa on a Friday night

Iowa travels to UCLA for a Friday night game.

With the expansion of the Big Ten Conference comes continued growth of television options for games. That includes more contests being held on Friday nights. The Hawkeyes will already host Nebraska on Black Friday, November 29 in Iowa City, but they will also be playing another Friday game in the final month of the regular season.

The Big Ten Conference announced on Wednesday that Iowa will be playing at UCLA on Friday evening, November 8 at the Rose Bowl, where the Bruins play their regular season home games. The game will be aired on FOX starting at 8 p.m. central time.

This will be the tenth meeting between the Hawkeyes and the Bruins. The last meeting was also at the Rose Bowl in 1985 with UCLA winning that game, 45-28. Overall, UCLA leads the series 6-3. The Hawkeyes have not won against the Bruins in a game played in Los Angeles. There is one road win awarded to Iowa due to a forfeit.

The month of November will be an interesting one with the Hawkeyes hosting Wisconsin on November 2. Then the UCLA game on November 8, followed by a bye week. Then Iowa hits the road once again, this time to the east coast when they travel to Maryland on November 23. Finally they wrap up the regular season hosting Nebraska on November 29.
