'Pathetic coward': Nikki Haley said to have 'sold her soul' by announcing vote for Trump

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley made a shocking announcement Wednesday when she announced she'll be voting for her unvanquished political opponent: former President Donald Trump.

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins reported on X Wednesday afternoon that Haley agreed to walk the Republican party line and vote for the GOP's presumptive nominee.

"I will be voting for Trump," Nikki Haley says. "Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech."

Haley suspended her presidential campaign in March after a string of losses on Super Tuesday. At the time, Haley urged Trump to do more to court her supporters.

Collins reported Haley reiterated this request on Wednesday.

"She notes Trump hasn't reached out to the voters who supported her," Collins wrote. "(And continue to do so in surprising numbers in primaries still happening.)"

Earlier this month, Haley walked away with 20 percent of the Republican primary votes in Maryland's primary. Political experts called those votes "devastatingly bad news for Trump."

Trump repeatedly and viciously attacked Haley as the two Republicans battled for the right to appear on the 2024 presidential ticket.

The former president referred to his one-time United Nations ambassador, whose given name is Nimarata, as "Nimrada" and "Nimbra" in an apparent effort to draw attention to her family's Indian heritage.

Republican pollster Sarah Longwell called Haley a "pathetic coward" for the political decision.

Former Republican strategist Tara Setmayer echoed those sentiments.

"Welp…as predicted, Nikki Haley has sold her soul to a lunatic who despises everything she claimed to stand for as a woman, child of immigrants, military wife and a supporter of democracy," she wrote Wednesday. "She is the quintessential craven political clout chaser who will clearly say or do anything for political relevance. Haley had an opportunity to be a leader in the resistance and she chose the dark side. Again. Pathetic."
