Penn State men’s basketball coach Mike Rhoades and his staff have entered the dead period on the recruiting calendar, running from May 22 until June 2. On the back side of it, the Nittany Lion head coach has a slate of events set to help magnify the program.

In addition to an NIL event set for the West Shore Country Club on June 6, Rhoades will appear as the featured guest speaker for the New York chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association on Monday, June 3. Set for the Cornell Club in Manhattan, Rhoades will meet with university alumni for a cocktail hour and give a short presentation as part of the evening’s event.

From the event:

“All local Penn Staters (and friends of the University) are invited to join us on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 6pm at the Cornell Club – Manhattan for an evening of networking and merriment at the Penn State NYC Annual Celebration / Networking Event. Admission to the event includes food and drink. The NYC Chapter Board of Directors is thrilled to announce Penn State Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Mike Rhodes as our guest speaker this year!

The event is set to run from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Cornell Club in Manhattan. Tickets, including hors d’oeuvres and an open bar are available through the New York chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association for $100 for graduates between 2020 and 2024, $110 for members, and $120 for non-members.

Mike Rhoades makes push to expand program’s reach

Along with his scheduled New York appearance, Rhoades has also been active in the name, image, and likeness space this offseason. Encouraging supporters of the Penn State men’s basketball program to join him and his staff for the June 6 luncheon in Camp Hill, Pa., Rhoades has acknowledged the need for community-wide engagement to ensure the Nittany Lions’ success.

“Name, image, and likeness plays a large role in building our program’s future and sets up our student-athletes to pursue success on and off the court. We all can contribute in helping our players become successful after graduation,” Rhoades said via recorded video this week. “Our basketball players work with businesses and charities to build connections and leave a positive impact in so many different ways. That is why on June 6, I want you to join our staff for a meet and greet at West Shore Country Club to discuss the importance of NIL and how you can make a difference in the lives of our student-athletes.”
