Fabrizio Romano gives update on Erik ten Hag future at Manchester United

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Erik ten Hag amid speculation over the Manchester United manager.

Erik ten Hag heads into FA Cup final week with unwelcome speculation over his future, which we expect him to shut down at his pre-final press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Gianluca di Marzio reported for SoccerNews that Erik ten Hag will lose his job after the final, tipping three potential replacements.

So was the report ‘breaking news’, or taking a calculated guess? The situation remains unclear, while Fabrizio Romano reports no decision has yet been made.

Latest on Erik ten Hag

Speaking via his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano is insistent no decision has been made on Erik ten Hag’s future, with Ineos still weighing up their options.

He explains Ten Hag is not safe either, but indicates reports suggesting he will definitely leave, are wide of the mark.

Romano explains that the final at Wembley could have a bearing on his future, the performance rather than the end result.

He explains: “The Erik ten Hag situation is really open, and is not just about winning the Cup on Saturday. It is a really open situation, in general, anything can happen on Erik ten Hag.

“There is an opportunity for him to leave Manchester United, absolutely, it is not just about winning a trophy on Saturday, it is about the attitude, the performance of the squad.

“Also internally they are planning for things to be discussed as soon as possible on the future of Ten Hag.

“So there is the possibility of Ten Hag [being] fired at Manchester United, it is still not something they are informing anyone [on]. The future is really open and there is a 50/50 possibility to see his future.”

Ineos set to lose one manager

Ineos do have one new manager to hire, Romano confirms. He reports Francesco Farioli will become the first Italian manager in Ajax history

Farioli is the current manager at Ineos’ current club Nice, and has an ‘agreement in principle’ to join Erik ten Hag’s former club.

There is lots to do at Nice, with Roma poaching their sporting director Florent Ghisolfi.
