Arsenal hero Wilshere tells Carragher ‘don’t be so biased’ after Klopp claim

Arsenal cult hero Jack Wilshere has now told Jamie Carragher not to be ‘so biased’ after what the Liverpool icon has claimed about Jurgen Klopp and Arsene Wenger.

The Premier League bid farewell to Klopp on Sunday after the German oversaw his last game as Liverpool’s manager. Klopp elected to step down despite having a contract at Anfield until 2026. He left Merseyside as a one-time top-flight winner after an eight-and-a-half-year run.

Klopp oversaw a total of 334 Premier League matches after replacing Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015. The Reds also won 209 of his fixtures, drew 78 and lost 47 with 714 goals scored to 331 conceded. He also saw Liverpool win their only title since 1989/90 in 2019/20.

Jack Wilshere slams Jamie Carragher’s claim that Jurgen Klopp eclipses Arsene Wenger

So, after Klopp brought the curtain down on his time at Liverpool, Carragher claimed the 56-year-old left with a better Premier League legacy than Wenger set at Arsenal. The 74-year-old stood in charge at Highbury and later Emirates Stadium from October 1996 to May 2018.

Wenger further won three Premier League titles at Arsenal, including lifting the only golden trophy with the 2003/04 Invincibles. The Frenchman even transformed the game in England forever with his constant drive for an exciting playing style and improved training methods.

So, Carragher suggesting that what Klopp achieved with Liverpool eclipses what Wenger did at Arsenal has bewildered Wilshere. The Gunners’ Under-18 coach even urges the Reds hero to not be ‘so biased’ and show Wenger ‘respect’ knowing full-well the full impact he made.

“Unbelievable how [Klopp] transformed Liverpool but Arsene’s legacy in the Premier League is second to none,” Wilshere posted on X. “Sorry Jamie but you are miles off it.

“Please don’t be so biased and respect Arsene and what he did over a longer period, including leading the only team in the Premier League to be invincible.

“Everyone appreciates what Pep [Guardiola] has done and changed the way we see football in this country. But don’t forget AW had a similar effect when he came in 96! You know that era better than me and witnessed it, so let’s not forget that!”

Arsene Wenger revolutionised the English game after taking over Arsenal

Wenger arrived in the Premier League as a little-known Frenchman from the Japanese side, Nagoya Grampus. He replaced Bruce Rioch at Highbury with many unsure of what he would achieve in England. Yet Wenger took Arsenal and the English game to vastly superior levels.

The Strasbourg native simply revolutionised the sport with his constant push to improve the training methods in north London. Wenger also emphasised his already set-in-stone legend by overseeing Arsenal’s move to Emirates Stadium and working with tight finances due to it.

Yet despite their limited spending, Wenger managed Arsenal in the Champions League from 1998/99 to 2016/17. He even won the only unbeaten title in Premier League history. He also won 476 and drew 199 of his 828 league games, with 1,561 goals scored to 807 conceded.
