A palace garden boasting a medieval herb garden is opening for visitors this weekend.
On Sunday, May 26, Southwell Minster’s Palace Gardens will be open for the National Garden Scheme in Nottinghamshire, giving visitors an opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of the special setting.
The garden will be open from 11am to 4pm, and each visit helps to raise money for the National Garden Scheme’s beneficiaries — including Macmillan and Parkinson’s UK.
Set amongst magnificent ruins of the Archbishop’s Palace, the garden is packed with shrubs, flowering plants, mature trees, lawns and the medieval herb garden.
The open garden is dog friendly, there will be plants for sale, and refreshments in aid of Southwell Minster.
Visitors can also take a short walk to Potwell Dyke for a spectacular array of wildflowers and many orchids.
The Minster, churchyard and garden are accessible to wheelchairs, but there is no wheelchair access to grasslands.
