Everton fans are all saying the same thing about Ademola Lookman after his display in Europa League final

Everton fans are all saying the same thing about Ademola Lookman after what the former Toffees winger did last night.

The Toffees signed the winger as a teenager from Charlton Athletic, in a hugely risky £11m move.

However, at the time when the club were spending freely under Farhad Moshiri’s leadership, this was but a drop in the ocean.

Especially given the talent he supposedly boasted, which failed to come to fruition under the fractured and ever-changing leadership at Goodison Park.

Eventually moving to RB Leipzig, before returning to England briefly on loan with Leicester City and Fulham, it seemed like nothing would revive his career.

That was, until he moved to Italy.

Everton fans react to Ademola Lookman’s performance

Facing the seemingly unbeatable Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League final last night, many expected the Germans to continue their record-breaking and history-making run to storm past Atalanta.

After all, just last week saw them complete the Bundesliga season undefeated, having won the title. Attention then turned to their final two games of the season, this European final, and the final of the German Cup.

Were they to have won all three, it would surely have gone down as one of the greatest footballing achievements of all time.

But, there was one man prepared to spoil the party, with the former Everton winger Lookman on hand to net a hat trick, becoming the first African to score two or more goals in a UEFA competition final.

Here’s how Evertonians have reacted to seeing one of their former players star…

One notable fan, Harry Hesketh, would begrudgingly agree with this positive assessment of a player he used to celebrate at Goodison Park: ‘Ademola Lookman putting in one of the best individual European Final performances of all time is peak Everton.’

Then, fan account Everton Extra would emphasise just how historic Lookman’s performance had been: ‘Ademola Lookman with one of the best performances in a final you will see.’

Ademola Lookman proves that patience pays off

Everton, in their desperate pursuit of greatness under Moshiri, were far too cutthroat in their effort to reach the next level.

That was no greater exemplified than through Lookman, who has now proven what a little bit of patience and faith can do.

Now 26 years old, the Nigeria international has just recorded back-to-back campaigns with Atalanta where he notched over 20 goal contributions across all competitions.

He has flourished into a fine attacking talent, providing much-needed goals and assists from wherever he is deployed.

Everton certainly would do anything for a player of his calibre right now, and such quality might even be the final piece to help Sean Dyche’s side truly progress up the Premier League table.
