NBC News reporter puts final nail in coffin of Trump 'assassination' conspiracy theory

NBC News' Ken Dilanian on Thursday slammed the door shut on a MAGA conspiracy theory about President Joe Biden ordering the FBI to "assassinate" him.

The conspiracy theory in question came from documents related to the FBI's search of Mar-a-Lago for top-secret government documents, as it gave the authorization for agents to use deadly force during the search if they were faced with a life-threatening danger.

Many reporters with decades of experience covering federal law enforcement procedures noted that this language is standard whenever the FBI executes a search warrant and does not give agents the license to barge into property unannounced with guns blazing.

In fact, reports Dilanian, agents had the same authorization to use deadly force when they searched President Joe Biden's properties for classified documents.

"A source familiar tells NBC News the DoJ policy statement on when officers can use lethal force -- which has been misrepresented by Donald Trump and his supporters as an authorization to use force at Mar-lago -- was also included in the paperwork connected to the consensual search the FBI conducted of President Biden’s Wilmington home, looking for classified documents," Dilianian writes on Twitter.

Regardless, Trump and his campaign used the language related to the FBI search as a fundraising pitch earlier this week.

In an email sent to supporters, Trump falsely claimed that "Joe Biden was locked and loaded ready to take me out and put my family in danger" despite the fact that none of that ever happened.
