Eight Arsenal stars nominated for fans' 23/24 Premier League award, it's more than Man City

Even though Arsenal just missed out on winning the Premier League title, it was still an impressive campaign for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The impact made by many members of the Gunners squad is recognised by the fact that eight Arsenal players have been nominated for the Premier League fan team of the season, via the Premier League’s official website.

Goalkeeper David Raya is up for inclusion along with defenders Ben White, William Saliba and Gabriel.

Midfielders Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard are also in contention, as are Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz.

Arsenal’s superb defensive record is recognised

Fans will now vote for which players they want to be included, and given how many players have been nominated there could be a strong Arsenal presence in the final team.

Raya won the Premier League Golden Glove Award as he kept 16 Premier League clean sheets in his first season at Arsenal following his move from Brentford.

White, Saliba and Gabriel were consistent figures in an Arsenal defence that conceded the fewest amount of goals in the league this season – 29.

Rice was superb following his switch from West Ham and contributed with seven goals and nine assists in the league.

Meanwhile, captain Odegaard scored eight times and set up ten goals as he made another major contribution to Mikel Arteta’s side.

Saka enjoyed his best league season in front of goal as he netted 16 times, while he also provided nine assists despite receiving close attention from opposition defenders.

There was some scepticism surrounding the decision to sign Havertz from Chelsea, but the Germany international weighed in with 13 goals and seven assists in the league as he established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice striker.

For this award ten players in the division have been nominated in each position, with fans instructed to choose one goalkeeper, two full-backs, two centre-backs, two midfielders, two attacking midfielders and two forwards for the final team.

Rice and Odegaard are both listed as midfielders, with Saka named as an attacking midfielder and Havertz in the forwards category.

Arsenal have more players nominated than Man City

Arsenal won 28 of their 38 Premier League matches this season during an impressive campaign. However, they weren’t able to secure the title, with Manchester City finishing two points above them.

City have seven players nominated for the fan team of the season, by comparison, which is one fewer than Arsenal.

The City players nominated are Ederson, Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.
