'Since I've arrived': Inter Miami player shares what he's loved about the club since joining

Inter Miami defender Marcelo Weigandt has shared what he’s loved about playing for the Herons since moving from Argentina.

The 24-year-old right-back joined on loan from South American giants Boca Juniors in March after Inter Miami made the surprising move to trade DeAndre Yedlin to MLS rivals FC Cincinnati.

Despite the decision, Weigandt has impressed at Inter Miami, with the defender making the right-back position his own and quickly gaining the trust of Tata Martino and already being in awe of Lionel Messi.

And Weigandt has now shared his real thoughts about Inter Miami since joining.

Weigandt admits he is loving life at Inter Miami

Speaking to the press, the former Argentina youth international revealed that he is enjoying his time at Inter Miami, with Weigandt admitting that he feels settled and that he feels confident again on the pitch.

Weigandt joined Inter Miami having hardly kicked a ball for Boca Juniors in the last 12 months, yet the defender is now showing with the Florida franchise why the decision was made to sign the fullback.

Weigandt said: “Since I’ve arrived, I’ve felt very good. I haven’t played a lot in the last six months, so this group, my teammates, and the coaching staff, they have given me an incredible amount of confidence.

“I think I am improving game after game, and that makes very happy, it is helping the team win and it allows me to enjoy each victory, which is something nice.”

The Herons hit the jackpot in signing Weigandt

Whilst there is no official confirmation on if Inter Miami hold an option to sign Weigandt on a permanent deal at the end of the year, all signs seem to point towards the 24-year-old staying in Florida beyond 2024.

The defender has settled in well at Chase Stadium and has quickly become an important member of the starting XI, with Weigandt building a good relationship down the right with Messi.

And Inter Miami truly hit the jackpot when it came to signing Weigandt, who has adapted to MLS with ease and looks comfortable enough to be the Herons’ starting right-back for many years to come.
