Erik ten Hag rules one Man Utd player out of FA Cup final, expects trio including Anthony Martial to return

Manchester United are gearing up for the FA Cup final on Saturday and now Erik ten Hag has shared fitness updates on four players.

For Erik ten Hag, this season has fallen below the standard which he set during his first campaign in charge at Old Trafford.

However, with that being said, he has a chance this Saturday to rectify a terrible season by beating local rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Ending the season with silverware would be huge for the club and the manager and head into the transfer window on a high.

But before the final, the Dutchman has had his pre-match press conference and in doing so has provided fitness updates.

Manchester United team news for FA Cup final

Speaking on Thursday afternoon, as quoted by MEN, Ten Hag shared an update on several players’ fitness as the injury list at Manchester United continued to lessen.

It was bad news for one player, however for three others, it seems as though they’ll be returning to the squad at Wembley.

“Yeah, Harry Maguire is unavailable but for the rest, all of the players you mentioned are available. Tomorrow final training and we make final decisions but the way I see it now it looks good (that Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial are available).

“Maguire? It (the injury) didn’t heal as expected.”

For Maguire missing out will be a massive blow, and we imagine that despite not being named, Luke Shaw will also be out of the final as he hasn’t been spotted in training.

Ten Hag has options for the FA Cup final

This entire season has been one injury-plagued nightmare for Ten Hag with an abnormally large case of injuries which has definitely impacted the form we’ve seen at Old Trafford.

But for the first time in a long time, the squad is almost completely fit with only Maguire and Shaw not available to choose from.

This gives Ten Hag something he hasn’t had in months, and that is options, both from the bench and in choosing his starters.

Over the past month, it’s been tough to watch with several players being forced into unfamiliar roles for United due to injuries, but against City in the final, it’ll be practically the first choice barring the absence of Shaw.

Ten Hag will also have the option of two strikers in the squad which is one more than we’ve become used to, and Martial could yet sign off his time at United in style.
