Man City pair included in most improved players list for 2023/24 Premier League season

Two Manchester City players have been included in a list of most improved players from the previous Premier League season.

After winning the title for a third time in a row last season, the Citizens followed that up by doing it again this time around and becoming the first side ever to win four consecutive Premier League trophies.

Now though, two figures in Pep Guardiola’s squad have been recognised for their efforts throughout the latest campaign and how much they’ve improved since the previous one.

According to WhoScored, Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden were two of the top 10 players who saw their season ratings increase from the 2022/23 Premier League campaign based on their performances this season.

After releasing this list on their official X account, they specified that to qualify, players must have made more than 25 league appearances in each of the two previous campaigns.

Other names on this list include the likes of Anthony Gordon, Eberechi Eze and Richarlison among others.

Alvarez and Foden have improved so much this season

This season saw Alvarez score 11 goals and deliver nine assists in 36 league games, 31 of which he started, earning himself an overall performance rating of 7.1/10.

In comparison to last season where he only started 13 of the 31 league games he featured in, the Argentine scored nine goals and garnered a season rating of 6.7/10.

Then with Foden, he earned himself a performance rating of 7.55/10 after scoring 19 goals and supplying eight assists in 35 league outings.

In his previous campaign, the Englishman scored 11 goals and delivered five assists in 32 league matches, 22 of which he started, ultimately picking up an overall performance rating of 7.13/10.

With all of that taken on board, it’s clear to see that the duo have made big improvements in terms of how prominent they’ve been in the City team and what they’ve delivered in regards to their goal contributions.
