'If you look at their squad': Bernardo Silva says whether he expects Arsenal to challenge for title next year

Bernardo Silva has responded to being asked whether he expects Arsenal to be in contention for the Premier League title again next season after they pushed Manchester City all the way this past year.

Manchester City made it four titles on the spin this term, but the Gunners certainly gave the champions a good scare, with the race going down to the final day of the campaign.

Arsenal have reestablished themselves in the title picture in the Premier League, with the club making progress in each full season under Mikel Arteta.

And this time around, they dropped points in just two league games in 2024 to take their title challenge to the final day.

Bernardo Silva predicts whether Arsenal will be title contenders next year

It is going to be difficult for Arsenal to pick themselves up and go again after coming so close this year, particularly with the Manchester City machine once again doing enough to get the job done.

But speaking on Sky Sports, Bernardo Silva suggested that he is very confident that Arsenal will be up there again next year.

“For sure, for sure,” he said. “I know their manager very well because he was here with us, I know how demanding and how intelligent he is. If you look at their squad, they’re so young and, for sure, they’re very hungry to go after some titles, so no doubt.”

Gunners shocked Manchester City star during title run-in

There are not many opportunities for Arsenal to reflect on what could have been from this past season, particularly after they found another gear from January onwards.

But for many supporters, the 2-0 loss at home to Aston Villa would have felt like a massive opportunity wasted, particularly with Liverpool losing earlier in the afternoon.

Those results left Manchester City two points clear with six games remaining, and they would indeed win every single one of those fixtures to get the job done.

Bernardo Silva has admitted that he was surprised by Arsenal losing against Villa, believing that they may have found other fixtures more difficult.

Unfortunately for the Gunners, that would prove to be the decisive mistake which left the door open for City to make history.
