NC State’s run to the Final Four is paying off in the scheduling world. The Wolfpack received an invite to the 2025 Maui Classic, its first time in that event, earlier this month and now it has agreed to a marquee non-conference contest in December.

The Wolfpack has agreed to a home-and-home with Kansas, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander. NC State will visit Phog Allen Fieldhouse on Dec. 14, according to the report, and the Jayhawks will visit Raleigh in 2025.

The non-conference games will also be junior guard MJ Rice’s first time playing against the Jayhawks since he joined the Wolfpack last summer. He appeared in 23 games during his lone season at Kansas, averaging 2.2 points with 1.0 rebounds and 0.2 assists.

Rice played in nine games in his first season at NC State, averaging 4.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.1 assists, before redshirting the rest of the season due to personal reasons.

NC State is 1-12 all-time against Kansas in program history. The teams last played one another in the 2022 Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas, where the Jayhawks won 80-74. Casey Morsell led the way with 21 points, while Terquavion Smith added 19 points.

The Wolfpack is working on its schedule after it completed its roster earlier this month through the transfer portal.

NC State brought in the No. 12 haul via the transfer portal, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. It signed forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield (Louisville), wings Dontrez Styles (Georgetown) and Mike James (Louisville) and guard Marcus Hill (Bowling Green).
