A manager is worried his £26m player could leave the club this summer transfer window after he’s been linked with a move to West Ham United.

The Julen Lopetegui era has begun following David Moyes’ departure and now transfer planning can begin.

The Spaniard will be in the process of sifting through transfer targets and deciding upon who is the best fit for his system.

That said, a rumoured target of West Ham could be nearing a move to the London Stadium after quotes emerged from his manager.

Manager ‘worried’ he’ll lose Wesley Gassova amid West Ham United links

West Ham United’s interest in Corinthians’ Wesley Gassaova has been well documented and it’s become pretty evident the West Londoners are keen to sign him this summer.

Now, it has just emerged, that his manager Antonio Oliveira fears losing him – evincing a strong indication that he could be in talks with The Hammers.

“I am worried. I am a coach and I want those who can help us achieve something, he is fundamental. Therefore, it (losing him) is something that worries me as a coach,” Oliveira said.

Wesley only turned 19 in March but he is already making waves in Brazil’s top-flight, registering seven goal contributions so far this season.

As per FBref, the left winger, who can also play through the middle, ranks in the top one per cent for successful take-ons per 90 compared to his positional peers across 14 leagues, evincing how proficient his dribbling ability is.

To only amplify that notion, he sits in the top six per cent for progressive carries.
