'If it were up to me'...£3m magician has bags packed for Rangers, Clement will have been watching

It already looks like Rangers will have an entirely different appearance under Philippe Clement next season with several new players linked already.

Jefte is said to be a done deal, Ibrox seems to be the preferred destination of Jose Cordoba and Liam Kelly is also tipped to return to Auchenhowie.

It won’t just be new signings that Philippe Clement will have at his disposal with players that Rangers have out on loan also looking to impress when pre-season kicks off – one in particular has been tipped to make an impact.

Ianis Hagi tipped to make Rangers return under Philippe Clement

Craig Moore has urged Sam Lammers to get another chance, however, according to Gheorghe Hagi, his son Ianis still has a lot to offer, as reported by The Rangers Review:

“After his season ends, Ianis will be preparing for the Euros and then we will see what he does next in the summer.

“At Rangers, he was their best young player when they won the league.

“He is not going anywhere, he was just loaned to Alaves. There are many opportunities for him.

“I believe he had a good season in Spain – for example, he was the best player for his team in their recent game against Real Madrid.

“People need to remember and everyone seems to forget that he has recovered from a very, very serious knee injury.

“If it were up to me and I managed a big team in Europe I would be the first to sign him!

“He has experience in Europe, he played at a very high level. He qualified with all the national teams, at every level. And he won a championship in the West, at 22 years old.

“He still has around 11 years left of his career injury permitting, There is more to come.”

Hagi can be Rangers difference maker

Gheorghe makes some good points.

Ianis Hagi was injured for more than a year and hardly played under Michael Beale when he returned to fitness.

There is also evidence that Hagi can play a key role in a successful Rangers team.

What the £3m signing lacks in consistency, he makes up in leadership, drive and the ability to make something happen out of nothing.

He is the type of player that Clement should love.

Hard working, aggressive and a player who always plays with his head up and facing forwards.

Rangers have struggled to find someone who can make a difference on the right-hand side of the attack and Todd Cantwell has been inconsistent in the number 10 role.

Even having a bad game, Hagi’s attitude wouldn’t change, an accusation that Cantwell has sometimes struggled to defend.

With two years left on his contract, he is at a crossroads in his career.

A spell in Serie A was unsuccessful and he has quite lit up La Liga either.

His name alone would see Rangers get their money back but, given the overhaul that the squad needs, it may be that Philippe Clement keeps a player around who he knows he can trust.
