Former Republican Nicolle Wallace, who hosts "Deadline White House" on MSNBC, revealed that she triggered some folks at Fox News this week when she confessed she can't understand someone like Nikki Haley.

Haley announced she was endorsing Donald Trump on Wednesday, sending shockwaves through the anti-Trump wing of the GOP that persisted in supporting her despite dropping out months ago. The move came after Trump spent months attacking Haley's family, including her husband, who was serving overseas in the military.

"Some of our friends at the conservative network were triggered when I said yesterday as this news was breaking that at a human level, I don't have the ability to understand what makes someone offer their political support to someone who has personally smeared their life partner, their spouse," Wallace repeated Thursday.

She turned to Republicans Voters Against Trump director Sarah Longwell to try and "understand the psychology of cults."

NBC News reporter Vaughn Hillyard found out that Haley had never spoken to Trump after dropping out. In fact, she still hasn't spoken to Trump. She didn't make a deal for a prime speaking spot at the Republican convention or a deal for an administration position.

"To place your loyalty to the tribe over your fealty to your partner is something I can't get my head around, explained Wallace. Does Nikki Haley's endorsement of Trump speak to the movement you are leading Republican Voters Against Trump in a way that makes you nervous? How do you make sense of what she did yesterday after the primary campaign she ran?"

Longwell said that it was clear Haley picked a political future and personal ambitions over the country.

"What is so deeply disappointing to me, and I felt this one," Longwell confessed about how Haley impacted her. "I really thought toward the end of Nikki Haley's run that she had started to sort of speak her truth. You know, these Republicans absolutely understand Donald Trump and the threat he poses. We know that they know it. We wait for them to tell us the truth. It felt like she had found her voice. I held out hope she meant those things when she said Donald Trump would side with a madman like Putin."

In the end, however, Haley was the same as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and others that came before her.
