Baltimore's former top prosecutor was spared jail time following her conviction for mortgage fraud and lying.
According to the AP, a federal judge sentenced Marilyn Mosby—who rose to national prominence after accusing police officers of killing Freddie Gray in 2015—to 12 months of house confinement and 100 hours of community work.
Mosby had already been found guilty of lying about her financial situation during the COVID-19 epidemic to obtain $90,000 from Baltimore's deferred compensation plan to pay down payments on Florida vacation properties.

The AP reported that Mosby gave her supporters, some of whom cheered when the court announced the sentence, hugs after the sentencing session.
“I’m just so incredibly grateful,” Mosby told dozens of supporters outside the courthouse. “This is not over, but God was here today.”
It’s a sad day for Mosby and her family, the judge told her. “It’s also a sad day for the city of Baltimore,” said Griggsby, adding that Mosby displayed a “pattern of dishonesty” while serving in a public office.
She also noted that her crimes didn’t involve any taxpayer money and said the prospect of separating Mosby from her two young daughters “weighed very heavily” on her decision, according the AP.
