NORMAN, Okla. — The No.15 Florida State softball team (46-15) fell to No. 2 Oklahoma (53-6) by a score of 10-3 on Thursday night at Love’s Field in Norman, Okla., in the first game of their NCAA Super Regional.

Florida State came out of the gate very patient at the plate and was able to load the bases without recording a hit, but the Seminoles couldn’t get a run across as Devyn Flaherty was called just out on a bang-bang play at first base that would’ve score a run for the ‘Noles.

The Sooners scored the game’s first run with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. The Sooners added another run in the bottom of the second, but the Seminoles fought back with a couple of free bases and a base hit to load the bases for Flaherty with two outs. Flaherty delivered with a rocket to right field that scored both Kalei Harding and Jaysoni Beachum to tie the game at 2-2.

The Sooners responded with three runs in the bottom of the third inning to retake the lead, but the Seminoles put pressure on Oklahoma again in the top of the fourth inning as Amaya Ross drew a 10-pitch walk and Kennedy Harp singled to put runners on first and second for the ‘Noles. But a double play stopped the momentum for the Seminoles.

Oklahoma took advantage with five runs in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead 10-2.

FSU added one more run in the top of the fifth as Jahni Kerr laced one up the middle to score Harding, who reached base via a walk. OU added the game-ending run on a walk-off walk in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The two teams will play again Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. The Seminoles will need to win that game to force a winner-takes-all Game 3. If Oklahoma wins, the Sooners will advance to the Women’s College World Series.
