Brendan Rodgers and Callum McGregor address added rivalry edge in Celtic vs Rangers final

Celtic and Rangers will play each other with both sets of supporters in the stadium for the first time this season on Saturday at Hampden.

Away fans have not been present in Celtic Park or Ibrox throughout the campaign, with both clubs coming to a new agreement from the 2024/25 season onwards for league derbies.

However, the clubs have been given a 50/50 ticket split for the showpiece Scottish Cup Final this weekend, adding an edge to an already massive occasion.

With silverware on the line, it could be the best atmosphere of the entire year. Especially when you consider it’s the first time the two clubs have met in the final of this tournament for over 20 years.

For the Celtic camp, it’s a moment to relish. They’re really looking forward to the noise and the colour that will be on display.

Celtic can’t wait for ‘special’ spectacle vs Rangers

Brendan Rodgers said in a media conference when asked about the 50/50 split: “Yeah, I am really looking forward to that and to next season when we will have a small percentage of away supporters at the games.

“It always adds to the occasion and it’s what makes this game. Even though the atmospheres have been incredible in both stadiums, the better combination is when both sets of supporters are there.

“I think it should make for a wonderful spectacle and hopefully a very good game and that is what we are preparing for.”

Celtic captain echoes his manager

Callum McGregor added on his media duties: “I think it will be great. I think it will be a really good spectacle. I think everybody is probably desperate to get the supporters back into each stadium just to add to the spectacle and the game.

“It will be great. It is a big showpiece game for the country and I am really looking forward to it.”

We know Celtic can step up and deliver when the pressure is on their shoulders. They’ve proven that again this season, so a powder keg atmosphere could enhance their game rather than take away from it.

With confidence high and the condition of the squad at a peak this term, Celtic have the chance to go to Hampden and deliver a statement win that puts a full stop on their dominance over Rangers this season.
