‘Never seen anything like it’: Jack Grealish says ‘brilliant’ Man City player has been ‘disrespected’ this season

Jack Grealish has leapt to the defence of one of his Manchester City teammates.

The winger recently won his third Premier League title in three years at the Etihad Stadium and could end the season with a consecutive FA Cup if City beat Manchester United on Saturday.

Despite City’s latest Premier League success, the Englishman has been speaking out about one of his teammates at the Manchester club and slammed some of the criticism that has come his way during parts of the season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Grealish had this to say when asked about Erling Haaland and the criticism he’s had in certain sections of the media this season.

He said: “I’ve said so many times before, he’s just unbelievable man, he’s just a killer.

“This season he’s scored 27 goals in the League. It’s a bit disrespected as if it’s not good.

“He’s unbelievable, he’s there every time the ball is in the box. I can’t speak highly enough of him. I get on really well with him, a brilliant guy, so good to have around.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone have his work ethic. The things he does, all the little things on a day-to-day basis whether it’s to help his sleep, or help his recovery.

“I’ve never seen anything like it, honestly. It shows why he’s so successful.”

Haaland’s goals eclipse his shortcomings in other areas

Specifically, Haaland’s general play away from scoring goals has been brought into question, with Roy Keane likening his ability on the ball to that of a League Two player back in March.

However, having scored 27 goals in 31 Premier League appearances this season, as Grealish mentioned, this is what should be focused on, in our view.

Although, if Pep Guardiola feels like there are other aspects of Haaland’s game that he could improve on, it’s down to him to do that with the help of his coaches and the players around him.

From a supporter’s point of view, as long as the 23-year-old can keep scoring goals on a regular basis and improve his overall game at the same time, he will undoubtedly help his side win even more trophies.
