Man Utd predicted lineup vs Man City - FA Cup final

By Ewan Murray

Manchester United have a chance to save their season on Saturday afternoon when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

A repeat of last season's final that the Red Devils lost, Erik ten Hag's side will need to brush off some questionable recent performances to overcome the world champions and claim a 13th triumph in England's oldest cup competition. If they can conquer Pep Guardiola's side, they will secure Europa League football next season having missed out on European qualification via the league.

While beating the Premier League champions will be extremely difficult, with Man City unbeaten in regulation time since early December, some returning stars will boost confidence levels for United ahead of a trip to the capital.

Here is how United could line up in what might be Ten Hag's final game in charge.

GK: Andre Onana - After David de Gea's costly performance in last season's final, Onana will be aiming to avoid a similar fate as his predecessor. The stopper has been incredibly hit-and-miss for the Red Devils this term but will have to be at his best to deny the likes of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka - Having shown his flexibility this term by playing in both full-back roles, Wan-Bissaka will likely be called upon in his favoured right-back slot this weekend. The 26-year-old may have to deal with the dual threat of Foden and Josko Gvardiol.

CB: Raphael Varane - Harry Maguire is unavailable this Saturday which means Varane will be handed his final appearance in a Man Utd shirt ahead of his summer exit.

CB: Lisandro Martinez - Man Utd's poor patches this season have generally coincided with Martinez's injuries. The Argentine is back having featured for an hour at the AMEX Stadium last weekend, his first start since early February.

LB: Diogo Dalot - One of Man Utd's better performers over the past nine months, the Portuguese has proved a handy attacking threat from left-back and even netted in the 2-0 win over Brighton last time out.

CM: Casemiro - Having been crucified for his shocking displays at centre-back, Casemiro will be relieved to see some of Man Utd's orthodox defenders returning to fitness. Still, he has hardly covered himself in glory in midfield recently.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo - A ray of hope for Man Utd, Mainoo is now one of the first names on the team sheet. Called up for the 33-man provisional England squad, confidence should be high for the teenager, who scored in the recent 3-2 win over Newcastle.

RW: Alejandro Garnacho - While preferring a role on the left flank, allowing him to cut in on his favoured right foot, Garnacho may be asked to switch wings at Wembley. The 19-year-old has proven a handful for most defences he's faced this season.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - The captain is essential to Man Utd as an attacking force, with Ten Hag's men notably failing to score in both games he missed over the last few weeks.

LW: Marcus Rashford - The impressive form of Amad Diallo puts his place in the starting lineup in jeopardy, with Rashford also omitted from the England squad for Euro 2024. However, he loves a goal against Man City and still has the ability to conjure up some magic.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund - Goals in the final two games of the Premier League campaign will have done Hojlund's confidence the world of good. Man Utd will need him to relieve pressure when the ball is turned over at Wembley.
