Report: Tottenham now decide they want another Nottingham Forest player, despite rejecting him in 2023

Tottenham have now decided they want to sign another Nottingham Forest player – despite rejecting him in 2023.

Spurs are no strangers to raiding the City Ground, after pinching Brennan Johnson from the Garibaldi back in September 2023.

Tottenham have since showed admiration for Morgans Gibbs-White, another player Ange Postecoglou is hoping to sign.

Now, yet another Nottingham Forest star is on Tottenham’s radar – somebody the north Londoners actually turned down in 2023…

Tottenham want Nottingham Forest No.14 Callum Hudson-Odoi

A story by the Guardian now claims that Spurs want to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Interestingly, it is explained that Tottenham were actually offered the chance to sign the England international from Chelsea for a bargain fee in the summer of 2023.

However, the north Londoners eventually decided to look elsewhere, ultimately signing Johnson in a £47.5m deal.

Now, after Hudson-Odoi impressed last season with eight goals in 29 Premier League appearances, Tottenham’s opinion on the winger is said to have changed.

The Guardian add that Nottingham Forest can expect to make a substantial profit on the £3m investment it took to sign the 23-year-old from Chelsea back in September.

England international should stay at the City Ground

In our view, Hudson-Odoi, who is statistically a better dribbler than Ebere Eze, must repay the faith Nottingham Forest put in him by spending at least one more season at the City Ground.

As aforesaid, Tottenham – and presumably many other clubs – did not believe in the Londoner when his career was at a crossroads last summer, but Nottingham Forest took a chance on his talent, and are now reaping the rewards.

Therefore, while Hudson-Odoi is entitled to do what he wants with his career, of course, it would be a real slap in the face if he chose to depart the City Ground, just as soon as his stock is high again.

The Chelsea academy graduate is also not guaranteed to start in N17 either, as Postecoglou already owns the likes of Heung-min Son, Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.

As such, it would be a majorly disappointing decision if Hudson-Odoi requested to join Tottenham this summer.
