Former Man Utd striker speaks out in defence of Erik ten Hag, supportive comments the manager needs

Ahead of the FA Cup final, Manchester United must be behind Erik ten Hag and now a former player has done just that.

It’s been a long and difficult season for Erik ten Hag with an eighth-place finish in the league leaving him in a perilous season.

Despite this, he’s still managed to lead Manchester United to an FA Cup final, through the worst injury crisis the Premier League saw all campaign.

With much speculation over his future, the fans are getting behind Ten Hag for the final at least, and now Dion Dublin has done the same with his latest comments.

Dion Dublin gets behind Erik ten Hag

Amid wild speculation over United meeting with and talking with representatives of other managers to replace Ten Hag, former United striker Dublin has backed the manager in a recent interview.

“I personally like Mr Ten Hag. I like him. I’ve interviewed him three times for BBC Football Focus. And he’s been he’s been brilliant,” Dublin explained while speaking to the Daily Mail.

“He knows what he wants to achieve. Has he got the tools? Yes. Are they performing to the level that he needs? And they want to perform to? Possibly not.

“Does he need to add? Yes. I believe they keep him. I think they should keep him. I think he’s got the right philosophy. I like that he’s stubborn on the odd occasion. He doesn’t listen to the fans.

“He doesn’t get bogged down with what he thinks he shouldn’t be doing, so he stays on side with the press and stays on side with the planes,” Dublin said.

“He’s doing it for the good of Manchester United and being successful. And I like him and I think they should keep him.”

Manchester United can win the FA Cup

It isn’t surprising to see United being written off already by everyone ahead of this cup final on Saturday. However, as the underdogs, United could shock everyone.

Ten Hag has an almost fully sit squad to select his team from, and will also be boosted by genuine options off the bench, which he hasn’t had recently with two goalkeepers regularly making the bench.

City will no doubt have had a slow week, with Premier League celebrations stretching into the week, and the feeling that they are overwhelming favourites potentially seeing the foot come off the pedal.

United can shock City and lift the FA Cup this weekend which could be what Ten Hag needs to silence debates over his future.
