The Russian Federation is spreading anonymous statements about Vladimir Putin's readiness to freeze the war to disrupt the Peace Summit, stated the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba.

"Why do Russian sources suddenly inform the media that Putin is ready to stop the war at the current line of contact? It's very simple. Putin desperately tries to disrupt the Peace Summit in Switzerland. He fears its success," the Minister emphasized.

According to Kuleba, Putin's entourage sends these false signals about readiness for a ceasefire, although Russian troops continue to attack Ukraine.

“At the moment, Putin has no desire to stop the aggression. Only a principled and united voice of the world majority can make him choose peace over war. That's what the Peace Summit is meant to achieve. That's why he fears it so much,” the Foreign Minister added.

Kuleba emphasized that is why it is so important that as many leaders from all parts of the world as possible attend this summit.

"When the whole world speaks out in support of the full restoration of the UN Charter and international law, Russia will be forced to choose peace," he emphasized.

Earlier today, Western media reported that Putin wanted to freeze the war in Ukraine. Read more about this statement in the material of RBC-Ukraine.

Peace Summit in Switzerland

In the second half of June, Switzerland will host the first Global Peace Summit, initiated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It will be attended by those countries that are looking for ways to resolve the war in Ukraine and end it. However, Russia was not invited to the event.

The office of the President of Ukraine explained what they would consider a victorious outcome for the peace summit on Ukraine.
