4-2-3-1: Manchester United predicted XI vs Man City in FA Cup final, Varane starts as Ten Hag makes two changes

It’s FA Cup final weekend for Manchester United against Manchester City to end the season in silverware, here’s our predicted line-up.

After a long and tumultuous season for Manchester United, the end is in sight with just one more game left to play, and it’ll define the entire campaign.

For Erik ten Hag it’s one final chance to stake his claim to Ineos that he should be in charge this summer and next season.

With the bulk of the injured list now back, there are choices for the manager to make against the Premier League champions who’ve swept United aside twice this season.

That being said, there’s something about this game for which there’s a feeling United can do it. But here’s all the team news ahead of the final.

After a season which was plagued by injuries, for the most important game of the campaign, those woes are significantly lessened.

But there are still absentees, with Ten Hag confirming on Thursday that Harry Maguire will miss the final, while Luke Shaw also remains out.

The squad will be bolstered by the returns of Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof and Mason Mount. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are also both likely available to start.

Here’s our predicted line-up for the game…

How should Manchester United line up vs Manchester City for FA Cup final?

With a mostly fit squad to choose from, Ten Hag has the best chance possible of lifting the trophy on Saturday.

In goal, there’s little doubt that Andre Onana will get to start at Wembley as he’s been ever-present throughout this season.

Moving into the defence, we expect the full-back positions to remain as they have been for weeks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right and Players’ Player of the Year, Diogo Dalot on the left.

At centre-back, signs are pointing to a reunited duo of Martinez and Varane with both now fit once again and this is the pair which gives United the best chance at success.

In midfield, Kobbie Mainoo starts his first senior cup final, with a toss-up between Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat joining him, it’s likely Ten Hag will go for the Brazilian.

Moving forward, as we’ve seen in recent weeks, there is a chance that Ten Hag plays the box midfield with Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes as a mix of number 10 and strikers.

This leaves the wing positions and while Marcus Rashford is a big game player, no chance should Alejandro Garnacho or Amad Diallo be dropped with both playing key roles in the trip to the final.

For United, this would leave a strong bench with several options to use as the game goes on.
