'We want to': Club director says he's set up a meeting with Arsenal to sign player who's 'always annoying'

A club’s sporting director has scheduled talks with Arsenal over signing one of the Gunners’ most talented young players.

Edu Gaspar will be a busy man from now until the end of the summer transfer window in August.

All eyes will be on incomings at the Emirates, but quite a few players could leave Arsenal as well. One club’s director has publicly expressed his interest in signing a Gunners youngster.

Club’s director shares plan to sign Mika Biereth from Arsenal

Mika Biereth is one of the most exciting young players in Arsenal’s academy.

The young Dane joined the Gunners as a teenager from Fulham in the summer of 2021. He has developed well since, and the 2023/24 campaign was his best season as a professional.

Biereth spent the first half of the season on loan in Scotland, at Motherwell. He scored six goals and provided five assists in 1045 minutes of football and became a fan favourite there.

In January, Arsenal received an offer from Austrian giants Sturm Graz to take Biereth on loan. The Gunners recalled the young Dane from Motherwell and sent him to the Merkur Arena, causing major disappointment at the Scottish club.

Biereth became an even bigger star in Austria. scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 22 appearances for the club.

His performances played a big part in helping Sturm Graz win the double this season.

Now, the Austrian champions want to sign Biereth on a permanent deal, and their sporting director, Andreas Schicker, has revealed that he has set up a meeting with Arsenal next week to discuss the move.

He told Kurier: “Mika’s intense style of play is even more important for us. He’s always annoying, you can never take your eyes off him, he can contribute something crucial right up to the end.

“Yes, we want to try to sign Mika permanently. There is an appointment with Arsenal next week.

“Maybe they will quote a price that would be feasible for us. We can push our limits a little higher for a player like that.”

Arsenal could make unpopular Biereth decision

Mika Biereth’s talent speaks for itself.

The Dane, still only 21, has the potential to become a top striker in Europe in the coming years. He has all the characteristics you’d want from a number nine.

Biereth has compared himself to Harry Kane and Erling Haaland, who are two of the best strikers in world football today. There definitely are similarities in his game.

Arsenal fans are really excited about Biereth, but Edu and Mikel Arteta could make the unpopular decision of selling him this summer.

The youngster will enter the final year of his contract in July, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that ‘many clubs’ will try to sign him before the start of next season.

The Gunners are expected to sign a new striker this summer, so Biereth has no clear pathway into the first team. That could convince both parties to go their separate ways.
