Lancaster (Calif.) Quartz Hill On300 cornerback Adonyss Currie announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Friday.

The 6-foot-2, 160-pound becomes the jewel of an Aggies class that ranked No. 12 nationally when he jumped in the fold.

The On3 Industry tabs Currie as the nation’s No. 7 cornerback and No. 65 prospect overall. He is a phenomenal two-way player, turning 47 receptions into 865 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior. He registered 35 tackles, four interceptions and six pass breakups as well. He had 12 total scores which included one by rushing, one by kick return and one a pick six.

Breaking down what the Aggies are getting

“I think for starters he has an outstanding combination of stature and speed,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power said. “His top-end speed stacks up with anybody in the cycle at corner. He’s proven to be fluid and coordinated in coverage situations.

“We’ve had a chacne to see him in person a few times already,” Power said. “He’s looked good in the neutral settings against top receivers and backs that up on Friday nights.

“When you look at his speed he consistently runs in the sub 11.0s and 10.5 range at his best. His physical traits project really well at the position.

The impact on the Texas A&M class

Currie chose to play his college football in College Station over scholarships from the likes of Miami, Notre Dame, Georgia, Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Penn State, Ole Miss and Utah.

Currie visited College Station in April. Jordan Peterson was the lead recruiter.

Currie is commit No. 12 for the Aggies in the 2025 cycle, joining fellow blue-chipper and California product quarterback Husan Longstreet. That gives the Aggies verbals from two of the top three prospects in the Golden State.

Defensive back is also a priority for Texas A&M in the cycle and they add Currie to a class that includes four-star cornerbacks Cobey Sellers, Deyjhon Pettaway and Jamar Beal-Goines.
